The office is currently CLOSED due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We will be closed through the month of March. At that time, we will re-evaluate our community situation and make a professional decision on whether we can open for treatments again. We will be re-evaluating on a week to week basis following the end of March. It is our hope that Rochester does it’s civil duty and takes this virus seriously. That is the only way we will be able get through this and small businesses like ASC will be able to open again!
The government, both locally and nationally have deemed chiropractic an “essential” service. However, due to personal and professional reasons, I have made the decision to close the office. I have been asked numerous times as to why, and I figured I would be transparent with you and tell you why I chose to close.
- My wife is pregnant. I don’t want to contract the virus and bring it home with me to pass on to my wife and/or unborn child. There are reports that the virus does not spread from mother to baby during pregnancy and birth but there is too little information at this point to tell. So yes, this personal reason is my number 1.
- On a professional level, I feel that I need to do my part and stop the spread. What I do is so up close and personal. Sure, I can clean after each patient, use gloves, and wash hands, but if the virus gets on my shirt, and my shirt touches the next patient, that is still spreading the virus. I CAN NOT, in good conscience, continue to work.
- I was immunocompromised. A week before the spread became known in Monroe county, I had surgery. It was a simple outpatient procedure, but I was still under anesthesia, my immune system was still very down from medications. I was already sick since the procedure. I did not want to easily contract the virus and continue the spread.
- My practice is based on evidence-based medicine and focused on orthopedic injuries. I do NOT believe an adjustment/treatment will boost your immune system so much that you can’t contract the virus.
So, now you know. These are my personal opinions, my reasons. If you agree, great! If not, that’s okay too!
It is my hope that Rochester and the country take this seriously, and does their part in stopping the spread of COVID-19!
We’ll talk soon!
